Suraphol (Gabriel) Udomkesmalee has been selected as the new Deputy Section Manager of Mobility and Robotic Systems (347).
Gabriel comes to us from the Mars Technology Program, where he has been serving as the MSL Focused Technology Manager. Many of you have worked closely with him in that role. He will continue to have an affiliation with MTP in the near future, maintaining our ties with the Program and following through on our MSL technology infusion efforts.
Gabriel brings with him a long history with JPL and wide spectrum of capabilities. He has been a Group Supervisor, Program Manager, Large Research Project Manager, and echnology Developer in the areas of sensing, stimation, and control. His 20 years of experience includes both JPL and industry. He holds three advanced degrees, including an MA in Economics, and PhD in System Science.
This new assignment will be effective Monday, 8/15/05. At that time, he will also begin serving as the acting group supervisor of the Mechanical and Robotic Technologies Group in 347. This additional role will be temporary, until the pending completion of the 347 reorganization.
