Pete joined the Robotic Manipulation & Sampling group at JPL in August, 2014.
Graduate School
Before JPL, Pete completed his Master of Science in Electrical & Computer Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology where he held a Graduate Research Assistantship, during which he was a main team member of their Darpa Robotics Challenge team, Hubo, and co-operated the robot during the semi-finals in Miami, FL. His team was responsible for three tasks: Rubble-clearing, Door-opening and wall-drilling. The focus of his Masters was robotics software and control systems. He gained a lot of hands-on experience with whole robotics systems.
China
Before graduate school, Pete worked in a Mandarin-only elevator company in Hangzhou, China. He was hired on to start international business and design the mechanical components of a family of elevator callboxes.
Hobbies
Pete enjoys playing soccer, basketball, golf, frisbee, table tennis and billiards, rock climbing, slacklining, scuba diving, surfing, skiing, hiking and trail running, tinkering, electromechanical repair and working on cars/motorcycles
