Section 347 Robotics has a strong relationship with the NSTA (National Space Technologies Applications) office at JPL to conduct research for a wide variety of Civil and Commercial Sponsors under Space Act Agreements (SAA) or Interagency Agreements (IAA). These projects involve the development of robots, sensors, software, and related technologies that benefit both NASA and the sponsor’s missions and objectives. The goal upon completion of these projects is to transfer the technology to the sponsor or designated 3rd parties for commercialization for the betterment of the US economy and/or government operations.

Additionally, JPL is working with several commercial space and robotics companies to develop new technologies for use in industry and space robotics. This has included the development of Force Torque sensors and robotic arms for use on the Perseverance Rover and Landing Vision Systems for use in Commercial Space flight applications.

Projects have included work for US commercial industries such as:

  • Oil & Gas Industry
  • Chemical
  • Hospitals and Medical Device Manufactures
  • Commercial Space Exploration and Robotics

And US Civil Agencies such as:

  • US Department of Energy (DOE)
  • Centers for Disease Control (CDC)
  • National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)
  • Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
