Biography

Tonya Beatty is a Mechanical Engineer in the Extreme Environment Robotics Group (347C) at JPL. She is currently supporting the Cooperative Autonomous Distributed Robotic Explorers (CADRE) project where she is responsible for aiding in the design of release mechanisms as well as assisting in the fabrication of the prototype rovers.

Prior to joining 347C, Tonya helped develop and design the mechanical systems and mechanisms necessary for a hybrid-autonomous rover (HAR-V) capable of traversing the extreme environment found on the Venusian surface through JPL. Additionally, she has done research in biologically inspired composite materials and has coordinated the design, fabrication, and testing of additively manufactured nozzle samples intended to aid in the research and development of the RS-25 engines used for the Space Launch System (SLS).
